One simple article writing service site that I've personally been affiliated with as an online writer is iWriter.com. Unlike HubPages, Squidoo, or Helium, iWriter is a Pay-Per-Article service that gives upfront payments to writers for every article written. The pay depends on your writing level and ranges from $1.08 (150 words - standard) to around $12 (1000 words - elite) per article. But take note, these price range are the minimum meaning depending on your client, he/she can lift the price according to his preferences to attract elite grade writers, who often choose only highly-prized articles.

Advantages

As with any online article writing site, iWriter has many advantages that it boasts, like:

1. Simplicity - Unlike Constant-Content, which has a very high standards for its writers, and E-lance, which you still need to auction your service, iWriter is boasts its very simple and straightforward article writing system both for writers and clients. Here, all you need to do is to sign up and viola, you're now working online and can now work for clients as a standard writer.

2. Starting ground for novice writers - Any aspiring online writer has to a have a place to begin work with, and novice writers with little or no work portfolio at all are often rejected (Yeah, I've experienced this). At iWriter, even writers with no experience can start their online career and work for experience. Some clients have high standards despite the low price they've been asked for the article and may reject your work though.

3. Work part-time - For those with day jobs, iWriter provides the a good source of part-time income. Actually, it is not recommended considering writing in iWriter a full time job. The income here can only amount for your monthly bills even though you worked for a considerable amount of time.

Disadvantages

Since every bright has a dark side, and an advantage has its counterpart disadvantage, same goes for writing in iWriter. For the disadvantages, I've listed the significant ones below:

1. Low Income - A little exception may be applied to Elite-grade writers, of which the project's price plays around $4.50 (300 words) to $8.10 (700 words). Standard and Premium grade writers are paid less than $5 for an average article, a price that is not pretty much worth the effort for a real talented writer.

2. Ghost Writing - Basically, when you submit an article to your client, you lose all rights to it. You've become a ghost writer. You may be praised by your client through a review and establish your name on iWriter but you'll never establish your name throughout the web. A real drawback for talented writers don't you think?

3. Limited Topics to Write - This is true especially for a standard-grade writer. You've got limited topics to write on and sometimes, the topics are all too specific to write about. This is especially hard even for an established writer.

What's more, you're limited to a maximum of 3 hours (500 words) to 5 hours (700 words) to complete your work. (That would mean less breaks) Anything longer and you've dropped the project. Considering the needed research for very demanding projects, this is pretty hard for beginner writers, and sometimes even for established ones.

These are only a few of the iWriter advantages and disadvantages, and somehow I think it is already upon you to find out more. Now Is it really worth it to write here? Well, as far as I can say, it think it's still good for part-time income and experience. The rest is up to you.

@onlinecashdigest, it's true about the limited topics, especially if you're just starting out. Going into a premium writer level however would open you up to more general topics, and so you would have many choices.

That's nice to know! I would try it so that I would graduate to a premium level.

So its the same with Fiverr.com which I am a member and I have written about in one of my hubs. I am now on the second level allowing me to offer more expensive but premium services.

That's pretty low. I wouldn't want to sell my work for such a low price while someone continued to make more money from my articles. Good to know this information though so thanks for sharing.

@Pamela, yep, that's why I stopped writing there already.

This is a great info. though it's really very low for a quality article that one will write for of 3-5 hours, and it may be hard to find a topic of your interest. Anyway, will check on this and I'll try if there are some topic that would interest me. Thanks for the info. Marked useful and interesting! Voted up!

I write here too I do have to admit with the limited subject content. I do it to help some bills and stuff. But I was looking to see if people can make money here. Thank you very much.

Actually, I'm an elite level writer at iWriter and by far the highest paying article that I've seen (and written) is $25 (700 words). It's true that it's not much but like William said above it somehow helps especially with bills.

@William Gerace - Sadly, it'll be really difficult to make a living here, considering the available contracts and pay. If you want this type of work it would be a lot better to apply in an internet marketing company as a copywriter for a stable income stream.

iWriter is indeed very limiting to us, neophytes in online content contributors.

Well, it's better to explore your writing ideas here at HubPages. It's like expressing your freedom here and maximizing your potentials in every aspect of written literature.

Thanks for sharing! :D
